Article 7:201 Dutch Civil Code, Book 7

Paragraph 1

Lease is the contract whereby one party, the landlord, undertakes towards the other party, the tenant, to provide a thing or a part thereof for use, and the tenant undertakes to provide a counter-performance.

Paragraph 2

A lease may also relate to property rights. In that case, the provisions of this Division and of Divisions 2–4 apply, in so far as the purport of those provisions or the nature of the right does not preclude this.

Paragraph 3

An agricultural lease agreement is not regarded as a lease.
